On September 22 and 23, experts from SPOC visited the Youth House of the PINS association, which is the Latvian partner in the LIKE project – Investments in life are the key to employment.

The purpose of the visit was to exchange experience and good practices. Together with our Latvian colleagues, we are looking for ways to achieve better success in the search for opportunities for social and labor realization of young people with mental problems.

The program included a number of work meetings, including a meeting with the Minister of Welfare of Latvia Gatis Eglītis, as well as visits to institutions dealing with unemployed young people and people with disabilities, such as the Ministry of Social Welfare, Department of Labor Market Policy, Agency for employment and the National Center for Educational, Pedagogical and Medical Commission. Measures and interventions at political and social levels were discussed.

Meetings between SPOC’s and PINS’s mental health professionals were held where individual approaches with young people in need of support were discussed.

Our common goal and view with our Latvian partners are to increase the autonomy of the unemployed young people with disabilities and offer them the necessary support and assistance in this process.
